Building Trades
     This two-year program provides training in aspects of building and repairing of homes including masonary, carpentry, electrical wiring and plumbing.

Fundamentals of Masonary: Lessons include the proper use, care and handling of tools, machinery, equipment and materials used in the trade. Students will learn to lay block, brick, build footings and foundations, while demostrating straight wall work and square corners.

Fundamentals of Carpentry: Topics covered include tool safety, care and handling of tools, hand tools, stationary and portable power tools, builder's level and transit. Students will build small projects designed around using the tools and machines of the trade.

Fundamentals of Electrical Wiring: Introduction to the basic electrical theory for both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current), generation of power, residential and commercial installations, and methods of inside and outside wiring. Students will study the understanding of the National Electrical Code and its importances.

Fundamentals of Plumbing: This field provides training in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment. Lessons include supply fixture units, drainage fixture units, venting, sizing of pipes, faucets and valves. Students will learn about the different types of pipes (black steel, copper, plastic, and polybutylene), as well as proper pipe fitting.
